Below are some tips on growing and looking after your trio of carnivorous plants.

Found growing all over the world except for both of the Poles, these plants have developed ways of catching insects to overcome nitrogen deficiency in their environment.  The three plants you have, demonstrate the main types of trap.  Sarracenia 'Pitfall' Trap, Drosera 'Fly Paper' Trap and Dionaea 'Snap' Trap.

These are all bog plants. Stand the plants in preferably rain water,  in a sunny position.

Do not give these plants fertiliser, or artificially activate the traps.

If you want to see the Venus Flytrap shut, gather around and set up a video camera  to film it.  You can then show the activation to other pupils.

These plants will require a dormant period, they will hibernate.  During this period don't let the plants dry out, just keep them moist.

Have a look to see where these plants come from in the wild and happy growing.
